Gelatin Base
- 3 packages Gelatin
- 3 cups Water
- Green Food Coloring Gel (amount as needed)
- Raspberry Pink Food Coloring Gel (amount as needed)
- 1 Tablespoon Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 3 drops Watermelon Flavoring
Alcohol
- 1 Cup Vodka
- 1/2 cup Watermelon Vodka
Toppings
- 1/4 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Bloom the Gelatin: In a medium-sized bowl, add 3 cups of water and sprinkle the 3 packages of gelatin over the water surface. Allow the gelatin to bloom per package directions, then stir well to fully dissolve the gelatin. Divide the gelatin mixture equally into three smaller bowls.
- Add Color and Flavor: To one bowl, add green food coloring gel. To the second bowl, add 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk. To the third bowl, add raspberry pink food coloring gel along with 3 drops of watermelon flavoring.
- Add Alcohol: Add 1 cup of vodka to the green gelatin bowl. Add 1/2 cup of watermelon vodka to the raspberry pink gelatin bowl. Stir each to combine thoroughly.
- Layer 1 – Green: Pour the green gelatin mixture into shot cups filling each about 1/3 full. Place the shots in the refrigerator for 1 hour until the gelatin has fully set.
- Layer 2 – White: Once the green layer is set, remove the shot cups and add the sweetened condensed milk gelatin mixture to fill each shot glass to 2/3 full. Return the shots to the refrigerator and chill for another hour to allow the white layer to set.
- Layer 3 – Raspberry Pink: After the white layer is firm, pour the raspberry pink gelatin mixture to fill the shot cups completely. Place them back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.
- Add Toppings: Remove the shots from the refrigerator and sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top. The chips will slowly sink into the middle of the pink gelatin layer, creating a unique visual effect. Return to the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Serve: Enjoy the layered watermelon jello shots chilled straight from the refrigerator.
Notes
- Adjust food coloring quantities based on desired color intensity.
- Ensure each layer is fully set before adding the next to maintain clean layers.
- Mini chocolate chips add a fun texture and visual surprise as they sink into the gelatin.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute vodka with water or fruit juice.
- Use watermelon vodka for enhanced watermelon flavor, or substitute with regular vodka if unavailable.
- Chill time may vary depending on refrigerator temperature; ensure gelatin is firm before layering.
