Ingredients
Scale
Lasagna Roll-Ups
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna roll-ups later.
- Cook the noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and spread them flat on parchment paper to cool and prevent sticking.
- Cook the turkey: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey until fully cooked and no longer pink, breaking it apart into small crumbles. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Prepare the cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Fold in the cooked ground turkey until thoroughly blended.
- Assemble the roll-ups: Spread a thin, even layer of the turkey and cheese mixture onto each cooked lasagna noodle. Carefully roll each noodle up and arrange them seam-side down in a baking dish.
- Add sauce and cheese: Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the rolled noodles, making sure they are well coated. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes to heat through and meld flavors.
- Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Rest and serve: Allow the roll-ups to cool for a few minutes before serving warm to enjoy the perfect texture and flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean ground beef if preferred.
- Use no-boil lasagna noodles to reduce prep time, adjusting cooking instructions accordingly.
- For extra flavor, add finely chopped fresh spinach or mushrooms to the cheese mixture.
- Leftover roll-ups can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
- If dairy is a concern, use lactose-free cheeses or vegan cheese alternatives.
