Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
Noodles
- 8 oz ramen noodles (discard seasoning)
Vegetables
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
Sauce and Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Cook ramen noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside to keep warm.
- Marinate the steak: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch until evenly coated to help tenderize and thicken the sauce later.
- Sear the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes until nicely browned, then remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Stir-fry the vegetables: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the sliced red bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are just tender but still crisp.
- Add aromatics: Stir in the sliced green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant and aromatic.
- Combine steak and noodles: Return the seared steak to the skillet along with the cooked ramen noodles, mixing everything evenly.
- Prepare and add sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Pour the sauce over the stir-fry and toss everything together thoroughly until evenly coated and heated through.
- Serve: Serve the steak stir-fried ramen hot for a satisfying meal.
Notes
- You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or ribeye for a different texture and flavor.
- Add mushrooms, snap peas, or cabbage to increase the vegetable variety.
- For a spicier version, add sriracha or extra chili flakes according to taste.
