Description

Delicious and fresh Shrimp Tacos made with seasoned sautéed shrimp, crunchy cabbage, creamy avocado slices, and tangy lime-infused sour cream all wrapped in warm tortillas. Perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner that serves 4 with 2 tacos each.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 lb large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings and Garnishes

  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • ½ cup sour cream

Others

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry thoroughly. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with chili powder, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked.
  3. Warm the tortillas: While the shrimp cooks, warm the tortillas in another pan over low heat or use a microwave until they are soft and pliable, ready to wrap the fillings.
  4. Prepare the lime sour cream: Mix the sour cream with juice of 2 limes to create a tangy dressing that will be drizzled over the tacos for added flavor.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Lay out the warmed tortillas and start by adding a generous layer of shredded cabbage. Top with cooked shrimp and avocado slices. Sprinkle chopped cilantro and drizzle the lime sour cream over the top to finish.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately while warm, accompanied by extra lime wedges to squeeze over the tacos as desired.

Notes

  • Use either corn or flour tortillas depending on preference or dietary restrictions.
  • For spicier tacos, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • Ensure shrimp is fully cooked but not overcooked to maintain tenderness.
  • These tacos are best served fresh for optimal taste and texture.
  • Leftover cooked shrimp can be refrigerated for up to 2 days but is best enjoyed immediately.
