- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 medium eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Streusel Topping
- â…“ cup brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoons butter (melted)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Honey Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until well combined.
- Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Combine wet and dry mixtures: Gradually add the dry flour mixture into the wet pumpkin mixture. Stir gently just until the ingredients are combined; do not overmix to keep the bread tender.
- Prepare Streusel topping: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, melted butter, flour, and cinnamon until crumbly.
- Assemble the bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and evenly sprinkle the streusel topping over the batter.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Prepare Honey Glaze: While the bread is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- Cool and glaze: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack. Once slightly cooled, drizzle the honey glaze evenly over the top of the bread.
- Serve: Slice into 8 to 8 generous slices and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your cozy pumpkin streusel bread!
Notes
- Ensure pumpkin puree is pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling which contains added spices and sugar.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep your bread moist and tender.
- The honey glaze can be adjusted for sweetness by adding more powdered sugar or honey to reach your desired consistency.
- Store leftover bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
- For a nutty twist, consider adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the streusel topping.
