Ingredients

Scale

Bread Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Streusel Topping

  • â…“ cup brown sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons butter (melted)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Honey Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until well combined.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures: Gradually add the dry flour mixture into the wet pumpkin mixture. Stir gently just until the ingredients are combined; do not overmix to keep the bread tender.
  5. Prepare Streusel topping: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, melted butter, flour, and cinnamon until crumbly.
  6. Assemble the bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and evenly sprinkle the streusel topping over the batter.
  7. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Prepare Honey Glaze: While the bread is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  9. Cool and glaze: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack. Once slightly cooled, drizzle the honey glaze evenly over the top of the bread.
  10. Serve: Slice into 8 to 8 generous slices and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your cozy pumpkin streusel bread!

Notes

  • Ensure pumpkin puree is pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling which contains added spices and sugar.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep your bread moist and tender.
  • The honey glaze can be adjusted for sweetness by adding more powdered sugar or honey to reach your desired consistency.
  • Store leftover bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For a nutty twist, consider adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the streusel topping.
