This Pepperoni Pizza Pierogy Casserole is a flavorful and comforting dish that combines the hearty texture of pierogies with classic pizza toppings like mozzarella, pepperoni, and pizza sauce. Baked to perfection, it’s an easy, crowd-pleasing casserole perfect for a quick weeknight meal or casual get-together.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 12.84 ounces frozen pierogies
  • 14 ounces pizza sauce

Cheese & Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Garnishes (Optional)

  • Fresh basil
  • Black olives
  • Chopped green pepper
  • Any additional pizza toppings you prefer

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a small casserole dish by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Sauce: Pour half of the pizza sauce into the bottom of the prepared casserole dish, spreading it evenly to coat the bottom.
  3. Add Pierogies: Arrange the frozen pierogies in a single layer on top of the pizza sauce. Then spoon the remaining pizza sauce over the top of the pierogies to coat them well.
  4. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauced pierogies, ensuring good coverage for a melty cheesy layer.
  5. Add Pepperoni & Parmesan: Distribute the mini pepperoni slices across the cheese layer, then finish by sprinkling grated Parmesan cheese on top to add flavor and a slight crisping effect.
  6. Bake: Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pierogies are cooked through.
  7. Garnish & Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves, black olives, chopped green pepper, or any other of your favorite pizza toppings. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious casserole!

Notes

  • You can substitute any flavor of pierogies if preferred, such as cheese or potato-filled varieties.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like mushrooms or onions to customize your pizza toppings.
  • If you want a crispier top, broil the casserole for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  • Use mini pepperoni slices for even distribution, but slices of regular pepperoni can also be used.
  • This dish reheats well and can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
