Ingredients
Scale
Salmon and Seasoning
- 1 lb fresh or frozen skinless, boneless salmon, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
Honey Garlic Glaze
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey
Garnish
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp chopped chives
Instructions
- Season the Salmon Cubes: Pat the salmon cubes dry thoroughly with a paper towel to ensure a crispy crust. Place them in a bowl and toss with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the cubes and gently coat each one evenly with the seasoning and oil.
- Pan Fry the Salmon: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Arrange the salmon cubes in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, frequently turning the pieces until all sides are golden brown and crispy. Remove the salmon from the pan and set aside on a plate. If necessary, cook in batches.
- Prepare the Honey Garlic Glaze: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the leftover oil. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Stir the mixture and let it gently bubble for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Combine Everything Together: Return the crispy salmon bites to the skillet and toss them in the glossy honey garlic glaze, ensuring each piece is well coated. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning as needed. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped chives before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, make sure the salmon cubes are patted completely dry before seasoning and frying.
- If using frozen salmon, thaw completely and pat dry prior to cooking.
- You can substitute honey with maple syrup for a different sweetness profile.
- Serve over steamed rice or with a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Adjust the amount of soy sauce to reduce sodium if desired.
