Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning
Toppings and Assembly
- 8 small tortillas (flour or corn)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 avocado, sliced
- ½ cup salsa (mild or spicy)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is thoroughly browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the tacos from being greasy.
- Add Seasoning and Simmer: Stir in the taco seasoning along with about ½ cup of water. Reduce the heat to medium and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes so the flavors meld perfectly.
- Warm the Tortillas: While the beef simmers, warm the tortillas in a separate pan over low heat for a couple of minutes on each side or microwave them for about 30 seconds until soft and pliable.
- Assemble the Tacos: Spoon the seasoned beef onto each warmed tortilla. Top generously with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, and salsa according to your taste preferences.
- Serve: Serve the tacos immediately while warm to enjoy the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- For a leaner option, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- Adjust the amount of taco seasoning to taste or use homemade seasoning for a fresher flavor.
- Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option.
- To add extra flavor, consider topping with shredded cheese, sour cream, or jalapeño slices.
- Leftover beef mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
