Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 pound fresh or frozen green beans
Sauce
- 1 (16 ounce) jar Zoup! Good, Really Good® Portabella Mushroom Bisque
Toppings
- 2 cups French’s fried onions (divided)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F and position the rack in the top third of the oven to ensure even baking.
- Prepare Beans: Boil a large pot of water and cook the green beans—3 minutes if frozen, 5 minutes if fresh. Drain them in a colander and rinse under very cold water to stop cooking and preserve color. Drain thoroughly before adding to a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Combine Sauce and Onions: Shake the jar of Portabella Mushroom Bisque well, then pour it over the green beans in the casserole dish along with half of the French’s fried onions. Toss gently to combine and spread the mixture evenly in the dish.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the freshly grated cheddar cheese evenly over the green bean mixture, then top with the remaining fried onions for a crunchy finish.
- Bake: Place the casserole uncovered in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the onions are golden. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh green beans with frozen ones if pressed for time, but adjust boiling time accordingly.
- Ensure green beans are well drained before mixing to prevent a watery casserole.
- For added flavor, consider sprinkling a pinch of black pepper or garlic powder into the casserole before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in the oven.
