Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Base
- 1 box Key Lime Cookie Mix (Pillsbury)
Decorations
- Chocolate Cookie Icing
- Lemon Tootsie Rolls
- Red Sprinkles or Pearl Candies
- Green Twizzler Strings
Instructions
- Prepare Cookie Dough: Make your cookies according to the package directions on the Key Lime Cookie Mix. Alternatively, you can use any sugar cookie recipe and add green food coloring to achieve the Grinch theme.
- Decorate Facial Features: Use chocolate cookie icing to pipe the mouth, nose, and eyebrows on each cooled cookie to create the Grinch’s expressive face.
- Shape Eyes: Microwave lemon Tootsie Rolls for 7 seconds to soften. Pinch off 5 pieces, then split each piece in half to make 10 eye shapes. Mold these softened pieces into eye shapes with your fingers before they harden again. Attach each eye to the cookie using the chocolate icing as glue.
- Add Pupils: Use red pearl candies or sprinkles as pupils by attaching them to the eyes with icing for added character detail.
- Create Eyebrows: Cut small pieces from a green Twizzler string and trim the tops into three parts using kitchen scissors to mimic eyebrows. Attach these to the back side of the eyebrows with icing to complete the facial expression.
Notes
- Microwaving the Tootsie Rolls softens them, making them easier to shape for detailed decorations.
- Green food coloring can be added to sugar cookie dough if you prefer making the cookie base from scratch.
- Use toothpicks or small tools to better shape the Tootsie Roll eyes if needed.
- Allow the decorated cookies to fully set so the icing and candy decorations adhere firmly.
- If you prefer, substitute candies with similar shaped and colored ones based on availability.
