Description

Easter Dirt Cake is a festive, no-bake dessert featuring layers of crushed Oreo cookies, creamy chocolate pudding filling, and topped with colorful Easter M&M’s and marshmallow PEEPS, creating a fun and delightful treat perfect for spring celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Base

  • 1 15.5 oz package Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Filling

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 12 oz Cool Whip, thawed

Topping

  • 1 cup Easter M&M’s
  • 20 PEEP marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Make Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk the milk together with the instant chocolate pudding mix until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.
  3. Combine Pudding and Cream Cheese Mixture: Pour the chocolate pudding into the cream cheese mixture. Beat until fully combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary to ensure even mixing.
  4. Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the pudding and cream cheese mixture, incorporating it evenly without deflating the whipped texture.
  5. Assemble the Cake: In a 9×13 inch baking dish, press half of the crushed Oreos firmly on the bottom as the base layer. Spread the pudding filling evenly over the Oreo base. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos over the top of the pudding layer.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least 2 hours to set and allow flavors to meld.
  7. Add Toppings Before Serving: When ready to serve, sprinkle the top of the cake with Easter M&M’s and place one PEEP marshmallow on each slice of cake along with edible green grass for decoration.

Notes

  • This dessert is best served chilled to maintain its firm texture.
  • Use softened butter and cream cheese for easier mixing and a smoother texture.
  • You can substitute Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream if preferred.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days for optimal freshness.
  • Adding edible green grass enhances the Easter theme and presentation.
