Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 (5 oz) cans cinnamon rolls (refrigerated, such as Pillsbury Grands)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 tablespoons butter, melted and divided
- â…“ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Icing from 2 cinnamon roll cans (typically included with the rolls)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly grease or butter a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Arrange Cinnamon Rolls: Place the 10 cinnamon rolls evenly in the greased baking dish.
- Add Heavy Cream: Pour the heavy whipping cream over the cinnamon rolls, making sure to distribute it in between each roll for extra moisture and richness.
- Make Sugar-Cinnamon Butter: In a small bowl, melt 4 tablespoons of the butter then stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
- Top Rolls: Pour this brown sugar and butter mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls.
- Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until rolls are cooked through and tender.
- Prepare Frosting Base: Remove the rolls from the oven and set aside to cool slightly. In a medium bowl, add the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and the softened cream cheese.
- Soften Frosting Ingredients: Microwave the butter and cream cheese mixture for 30 seconds until very soft, making it easier to blend.
- Mix Frosting: Whisk the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and combined.
- Add Icing and Sugar: Stir in the icing packets that came with the cinnamon rolls and the powdered sugar.
- Finish Frosting: Whisk until the frosting is creamy and smooth with no lumps.
- Frost Rolls: Spread the prepared frosting all over the warm cinnamon rolls generously.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, rich cinnamon rolls.
Notes
- Make sure not to skip pouring the heavy cream between the rolls; it adds moisture and a creamy texture during baking.
- Be careful not to over-bake; cinnamon rolls should be soft and tender, not dry.
- Use room temperature cream cheese and butter for easier frosting preparation.
- The frosting can be made ahead and refrigerated, then spread on slightly warmed rolls before serving.
- Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat before eating.
