Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
White Chocolate Peppermint Layer
- 16 ounces white chocolate wafers (preferably Ghirardelli)
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 3/4 cups crushed peppermints (or candy canes)
Instructions
- Melt Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Pour the semi-sweet chocolate chips into a glass bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring well between each until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Spread Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Using an offset spatula or knife, spread the melted chocolate into a 9×13 inch rectangle on a clean counter or parchment paper. Allow it to cool and set at room temperature without refrigeration to ensure the top layer adheres properly.
- Melt White Chocolate and Add Peppermint: Place the white chocolate wafers in a glass bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring until smooth. Stir in the peppermint extract until well combined.
- Spread White Chocolate Layer and Add Toppings: Spread the peppermint-flavored white chocolate evenly over the set semi-sweet chocolate layer. Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermints evenly over the top. Let it harden completely at room temperature.
- Cut and Serve: Once the bark is fully set and hardened, use a sharp knife to cut into pieces. Serve and enjoy your festive peppermint bark!
Notes
- Do not refrigerate the semi-sweet chocolate layer before adding the white chocolate, as it may prevent proper adhesion.
- You can substitute peppermint extract with peppermint oil or omit it if you prefer a less minty flavor.
- Crushed candy canes can be used as an alternative to peppermints for a more rustic texture.
- Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
- Microwave melting times may vary depending on your appliance; always stir thoroughly to avoid burning.
