Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Peanut Butter Candies combining creamy peanut butter and rich chocolate for a perfect sweet treat. These bite-sized candies are ideal for satisfying your sweet tooth and are quick to prepare without baking.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate for a richer flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Peanut Butter Mixture: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter, softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well-combined, ensuring a consistent texture.
  2. Shape Candies: Roll the peanut butter mixture into small, bite-sized balls approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place these balls evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze them for 15-20 minutes until they become firm and easy to handle.
  3. Melt Chocolate: While the peanut butter balls chill, melt the chocolate chips with the optional coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each interval, until the chocolate is completely smooth and ready for dipping.
  4. Dip Candies: Using a fork, dip each chilled peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, making sure it is fully coated. Lift the candy out and gently tap the fork to let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Place the coated candies back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Set the Chocolate: After all candies are dipped, refrigerate the baking sheet for another 15-20 minutes or until the chocolate coating is fully set and firm to the touch.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • The coconut oil or shortening in the chocolate helps achieve a smoother, shinier coating but can be omitted if desired.
  • Ensure candies are completely chilled before dipping to prevent melting or distortion during coating.
  • Store candies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • To speed up setting, you can place candies in the freezer but avoid freezing them for long periods as it may affect the texture.
