For the chocolate cake:
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
For the orange cheesecake layer:
- 16 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup sour cream
- zest of 1 large orange
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
For the chocolate ganache:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and line pans.
- Make the cheesecake layer: Beat cream cheese, sugar, flour, egg, vanilla, sour cream, orange zest, and juice. Bake in springform pan.
- Prepare the chocolate cake: Whisk dry ingredients. Beat sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then stir in boiling water. Bake in cake pans.
- Make the ganache: Heat cream, pour over chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth.
- Assemble: Layer cakes and cheesecake, then pour ganache over the top. Chill to set. Garnish before serving.
Notes
- For stronger orange flavor, add orange extract to the cheesecake batter.
- Cheesecake can be made a day ahead for easier layering.
