Description

Bunny Bait is a delightful, no-bake snack mix perfect for Easter celebrations. Combining crunchy cereals, pretzels, and cashews with a coating of melted white chocolate, this treat is topped with festive sprinkles, toasted coconut, colorful M&Ms, mini eggs, and marshmallows. Easy to prepare and fun to eat, it serves as a sweet and crunchy party favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups rice or corn Chex cereal (about ¼ of a standard 12 oz box)
  • 2 cups Cheerios (around â…• of a regular 8.9 oz box)
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • ½ cup salted roasted cashews

Coating and Toppings

  • 16 oz white candy melts (OR white chocolate chips – about 2½ cups – or vanilla almond bark)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Easter sprinkles
  • ½ cup toasted sweetened shredded coconut (roughly â…“ of a 7 oz bag)
  • 1 cup pastel M&Ms (about half of a 10 oz bag)
  • ½ cup mini eggs (about â…“ of a 9 oz bag, optional to add more)
  • ¾ cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prep the pan: Line a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper to prepare for the coated mix.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, gently toss together the Chex cereal, Cheerios, pretzels, and cashews until evenly combined.
  3. Melt the chocolate: Place the white candy melts (or white chocolate chips/vanilla almond bark) and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the mixture is completely smooth and melted. Be careful to avoid scorching the chocolate.
  4. Coat the mix: Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal mixture and fold gently with a spatula until every piece is thoroughly coated and shiny.
  5. Spread and sprinkle: Spread the coated mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle the top with Easter sprinkles and toasted shredded coconut while the chocolate is still sticky.
  6. Let it set: Allow the mixture to rest at room temperature for 20–30 minutes until the chocolate hardens. For faster setting, refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
  7. Add the fun toppings: Once set, scatter the pastel M&Ms, mini eggs, and mini marshmallows evenly over the top. Break the mix into clusters as desired.
  8. Store: Keep the Bunny Bait snack mix in an airtight container to maintain freshness if any remains.

Notes

  • You can use white candy melts, white chocolate chips, or vanilla almond bark interchangeably for coating.
  • If desired, increase the amount of mini eggs for added sweetness.
  • To toast the shredded coconut, simply place it in a dry skillet over medium heat and stir frequently until golden brown.
  • For a quicker setting time, refrigeration helps chocolate harden faster.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
