Ingredients
Scale
Puff Pastry Bars
- 1 sheet Puff pastry, thawed
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (or sausage, ham, or veggies)
- 1/4 cup Milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp Butter, for greasing
- 1 tbsp Olive oil, for brushing
Optional Toppings and Garnish
- 1 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
- Prepare Filling: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the cooked bacon (or choice of meat/veggies) and shredded cheddar cheese to combine evenly.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 4 equal rectangles or squares based on your preferred size for the bars.
- Assemble Bars: Spoon the egg and cheese mixture onto the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Fold the edges over the filling to enclose it, forming a bar shape. Press the edges firmly to seal the filling inside.
- Prepare for Baking: Place the stuffed puff pastry bars onto the lined baking sheet. Brush the tops evenly with olive oil for a golden finish and optionally sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the bars for extra flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown and the filling is fully set and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes to set. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired, then serve warm and enjoy your savory breakfast bars!
Notes
- Feel free to substitute bacon with sausage, ham, or your favorite vegetables for different flavor variations.
- Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before cutting and assembling to avoid cracking.
- For a crispier crust, brush the bars with egg wash instead of olive oil.
- These bars can be made ahead and reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick breakfast option.
- Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
