- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
Toppings
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent the bars from sticking.
- Mix Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and egg until the mixture is fully blended and smooth.
- Form Base Layer: Press the batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even base layer for the bars.
- Add Chocolate and Toffee: Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips and toffee bits over the cake mixture, ensuring consistent coverage across the surface.
- Drizzle Milk and Caramel: Pour the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce evenly over the top of the chocolate and toffee layer, coating thoroughly.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the center is fully set and no longer jiggly.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 12 squares and serving to enjoy the rich, chewy texture.
Notes
- Make sure to grease the baking dish well to easily remove the bars after baking.
- Allow the bars to cool fully to ensure clean, neat cuts.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- You can substitute the toffee bits with chopped nuts if preferred.
- For extra gooey bars, slightly underbake by 2-3 minutes but be sure the center is set enough to hold shape.
