Description

Better Than Anything Bars are a decadent dessert treat featuring a buttery cake base topped with chocolate chips, toffee bits, sweetened condensed milk, and caramel sauce. This easy-to-make recipe yields rich, chewy, and flavorful bars that combine sweet and buttery flavors with a delightful texture, perfect for holidays, parties, or anytime you crave a delicious homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Layer

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg

Toppings

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent the bars from sticking.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and egg until the mixture is fully blended and smooth.
  3. Form Base Layer: Press the batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even base layer for the bars.
  4. Add Chocolate and Toffee: Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips and toffee bits over the cake mixture, ensuring consistent coverage across the surface.
  5. Drizzle Milk and Caramel: Pour the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce evenly over the top of the chocolate and toffee layer, coating thoroughly.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the center is fully set and no longer jiggly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 12 squares and serving to enjoy the rich, chewy texture.

Notes

  • Make sure to grease the baking dish well to easily remove the bars after baking.
  • Allow the bars to cool fully to ensure clean, neat cuts.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • You can substitute the toffee bits with chopped nuts if preferred.
  • For extra gooey bars, slightly underbake by 2-3 minutes but be sure the center is set enough to hold shape.
